Charles S. (Chuck) Canter
Chuck Canter, 90, passed away peacefully in his home at The Marshes on November 1, 2024.
A longtime resident of Savannah, he grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He received a BS of Chemical Engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Rutgers.
He spent his working career with Exxon Corporation in Manhattan and in various European locations including London and Hamburg. He finished his career as Vice President of Exxon’s International Supply, Transportation, and Cargo Trading Activities.
In 1996 he retired to The Landings where he and his wife Marianne resided until moving to The Marshes. He had been involved in a number of volunteer activities, including board memberships in The Savannah Symphony, Chatham Academy, Royce Learning Center, and served as President of The Landings Association in 1994.
He is survived by Marianne, his beloved wife of 69 years, his sons Doug and Steve, and daughter Ann, as well as 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and son Dan Canter.
A Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
